Women's Tennis Ends Regular Season with 7-2 Win

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark
women’s tennis team closed out its regular season on a high
note, defeating Northwest Conference member Puget Sound 7-2 on
Saturday, April 4 from the Tennis Dome. The Pioneers finish the
season 13-8 overall and 10-6 in the NWC.
Amalia Nilsson improved to 18-2 on the season, defeating Sam Taylor
from the No. 1 singles spot with an easy 6-2, 6-0 win. Paige
Earhart continued her winning ways, taking down Madison Holtz from
the No. 3 spot with a 6-0, 6-0 win. The singles point from the No.
4 spot belonged to Jill Coleman who battled Ada Yu to a 6-0, 6-4
win. The Pioneers earned a singles point from the No. 5 spot, with
Clio Beatty defeating Devin Fields 6-4, 6-3.
The Pioneers moved on from singles to sweep the doubles
competition, grabbing three points. Nilsson and Whitney DeBree
knocked off Holtz and Taylor from the No. 1 doubles spot 8-2. Mika
Yokoyama and Alix Dixon paired up to take out Alissa Wolf and Yu in
the No. 2 spot, 8-6. The final point of the match came in the No. 3
spot from Earhart and Coleman, who defeated Devin Fields and
Jessica Gauger 8-3.
The Pioneers will now host their alumni on April 9 at the Tennis
Dome with a 6 p.m. game.
