Women's Tennis Picks Up 3rd Straight Conference Win

SALEM, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark
women’s tennis team continued its assault of Northwest
Conference foes on Sunday evening, defeating Willamette on the road
by the final score 6-3. The Pioneers picked up four of the six
singles points, while collecting two doubles victories.
Amalia Nilsson earned a 6-4, 7-5 win over Shannon Palmer at the No.
1 singles spot. The win gives Nilsson an 11 game win streak in the
NWC from the No. 1 singles spot. Whitney DeBree picked up the Pios
second singles point, playing from the No. 2 spot and defeating
Alyssa Morrison 6-3, 6-1. Fabi Dieguez gave Jill Coleman a fight at
the No. 4 spot, but Coleman won the battle 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. The
Pioneers final singles point came in the No. 5 spot, with Clio
Beatty one-upping Jamie Slonaker to take the game 7-6 [7-3], 0-6,
6-3.
Nilsson and DeBree grabbed yet another doubles victory, defeating
Palmer and Slonaker 8-2 from the No. 1 spot. Paige Earhart teamed
up with Coleman in the No. 3 doubles spot, defeating Dieguz and
Annika Moffett 9-7.
The Pioneers return to the L&C Tennis Dome on April 3 to host
Pacific at 4 p.m.
