TACOMA, Wash. -- The unpredictable season continued for the Lewis & Clark Pioneers on Tuesday. Following an 8-3 defeat against the Puget Sound Loggers in the opener, play was suspended in game two because of weather. The games were already a makeup doubleheader from a weather-shortened series earlier this month.
Lewis & Clark fell behind early. After scoring a run in the top of the first on Emily Drevdahl's RBI single that scored Katelyn Duilio, the Pios allowed three in the bottom half, including a two-RBI single by Haley Gray. Drevdahl finished 3 for 3, her first three-hit performance of the season and just her second multi-hit game of the year, to lead the Pioneers offensively.
The fourth inning was identical, with Drevdahl scoring when Tiana Rosario reached on an error to bring Lewis & Clark within 3-2 before the Loggers scored three more runs in their half of the inning.
Mckenna Johnson, Kristi Nagamine and Gray each had two hits for Puget Sound. Jaci Young (4-5) threw all seven innings claimed her fourth win of the year, allowing two earned runs on six hits.
The Pioneers play host to Linfield on Thursday, but the games have been moved to Concordia University's Porter Park because of weather concerns at Lewis & Clark's Huston Sports Complex.
