Pioneers looking towards spring as they finish out the fall season at Head of the Lake Regatta

SEATTLE, Wash. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers finished out their fall season at Head of the Lake Regatta with strong finishes against some fast programs. Both the men's and women's teams raced a full 5k on the University of Washington home course, with the men clocking in at 18:05.5 and the women crossing the line in 20:02.6.

The Pioneers have a young team, and entered two varsity race categories with four novice rowers making their debut appearance at the regatta. Despite the men finishing last in the Collegiate 8+/Open category, they were only thirty seconds behind closest rival Puget Sound. On the women's side, the Pioneers finished sixth out of seven boats, coming in 22 seconds ahead of the University of Oregon.

With few competitive racing opportunities in the fall, the coaching staff feeling optimistic about these performances headed into the spring season.
