SPOKANE, Wash. -- In their first matchup of the spring season, the Lewis & Clark Pioneers posted a 5-4 win against the Pacific Boxers, bringing their Northwest Conference record to 2-0.

Finishing first for the Pios, Ben DeLuca and Jackson Powell ended their set quickly, posting an 8-1 win. That is the pairs first win for the spring season.

For singles, G. Barrows was the first to pull out a win, playing at the No. 3 spot. He beat his Boxer opponent 6-1, 6-1.

No. 4 singles, Powell won the first set 6-4, before dropping the second 7-5 and the third 6-4.

Lewis & Clark ended up winning No. 3, 5, and 6 singles, with Pacific taking 1, 2, and 4.

At No. 2, Brewer took the first set, but was unable to grab the win in the second, losing 6-4, 6-3.

G. and B. Barrows won at the No. 5 and 6 spot, respectively, with both winning the first set 6-1. Brenden won the second set 6-2, while Gordan won 6-1.

Deluca won 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot, taking down his Boxer opponent and securing the Lewis & Clark win.

Last year, the Pioneers lost in the Northwest Conference Championship to Pacific, breaking a seven game winning streak. Winning tonight brings the Pios to 2-0 in conference and overall, and drops Pacific to 0-1 in conference, and 0-3 overall.

The Pios play their first home match tomorrow against Whitworth at 10 a.m.
