Leonard and Vickers combine for 30 in Lewis & Clark’s loss at Whitman

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers have been officially eliminated from Northwest Conference postseason contention after Friday night's 97-73 loss to the Whitman Blues at Sherwood Center.

Markel Leonard and Andrew Vickers combined for 30 points in the game, with Alex Jones and Kyle Owens scoring 11 apiece.

Lewis & Clark misses the postseason for just the second time in the last nine years. Leonard, who transferred before the start of last season, did not make the playoffs either of his seasons with the Pios, and will join Jones, Cory Coombe and Cannen Roberson for their final game on Saturday night when Lewis & Clark plays at Whitworth.

Roberson, who was injured in last weekend's home finale, did not play on Friday. Coombe scored six points. Freshman Nico Bricker was also in double figures with 10 points.

Whitman shot 53 percent from the floor and was led by 21 points from Tim Howell.

Tipoff time from Spokane, Wash. on Saturday between Lewis & Clark and Whitworth is 6 p.m.
