Basketball Alumni Game

Over 50 individuals attended for a men's basketball alumni event held Friday, October 3 as part of the alumni weekend schedule of events. Coaches Gaillard and Sempert were honored by the department and their former players before the game.
There have only been five coaches in the history of Lewis & Clark men's basketball. Dean Sempert was caoch number four, leading the team from 1963 until 1989, amassing a 363-327 record in 26 seasons. Current head coach Bob Gaillard is starting his 20th season at L&C in November with a 307-183 mark. Of the 911 victories in the history of L&C basketball, these two coaches have 670 of them (73%). Their combined record is 670-510 (.567) over 46 seasons. They have taken the Pioneers to the post season 21 times, winning nine Conference titles.
The numbers are only half of the story, with their former players clamoring for the opportunity to praise these two men as coaches and as mentors.
