Nilsson and Kollasch Honored As Pioneer Athletes of the Year

PORTLAND, Ore. - It was a special night on Palatine Hill, with the Lewis & Clark athletics department honoring its 2008-2009 student-athletes. The annual Student Athlete Awards honored all of the graduating seniors from their respective sports, as well as handing out awards to some of the years top achievers. Following the award ceremony, student-athletes, faciluty and staff made their way to the desset portion of the night.

This years award winners are:

Female Rookie of the Year - Margaret Dowling (Volleyball/Basketball)
Male Rookie of the Year - James Hollins (Basketball)

Mary Hunter Multi-Sport Athlete of the Year - Margaret Dowling (Volleyball/Basketball)
Dan Jones Multi-Sport Athlete of the Year - Ryan Kostecka (Football/Baseball)

Judy McMullen Female Scholar Athlete - Tamma Carleton (XC/T&F)
Dell Smith Male Scholar Athlete - Tyson Papenfuss (Basketball)

PAC-Outstanding Senior Female-Athlete Career - Lindsay Nixon (Swimming)
PAC-Outstanding Senior Male-Athlete Career - David Berman (XC)

Lois Smithwick Athlete of the Year - Amalia Nilsson (Tennis)
Joe Huston Athlete of the Year - Josh Kollasch
