2008-09 Pioneer Athletics Season Begins

On Saturday, August 16, the first wave of 2008-09 Pioneer student athletes reported to campus, with the first practices of the season taking place Sunday, August 17 for four of the fall sports.

The Pioneer men's and women's cross country teams had 37 runners report for the first day of practice with several more athletes set to join the teams later.

The Pioneer volleyball team started their practices Sunday. The volleyball team will officially open the Pioneer athletics 2008-09 season with a tournament in the Pamplin Sports Center August 29-30. Their first match will be at 10 am on Friday the 29th.

The Pioneer football team began their pre-season workouts, starting the prep work for their season-opener Saturday, September 6 in Elsah, Illinois against Principia College.

The Pioneer soccer team will report on Monday, August 18th.
