Wlodarczyk, Laurence First Team All-NWC

Outfielder Jordan Wlodarczyk and pitcher Tucker Laurence
received First Team All-Northwest Conference honors on Tuesday.
Sami Morgan was named to the second team. Three others received
honorable mentions. It was the first time since the 2000 season
that the Pioneers had a player named First Team All-Northwest
Conference and the first time since 1996 that two players earned
the honor.
Jordan Wlodarczyk (junior, Lake Oswego, Ore.), in his first season with the Pioneers, was in the running for the Conference batting title through the final game of the regular season. Wlodarczyk batted .411 against Conference opponents this season and .389 overall. He had four home runs and was second on the team in RBI despite battling injuries through much of the season.
Tucker Laurence (freshman, Napa, Calif.) added another accolade to his resume by being named a First Team selection as a starting pitcher. Laurence was one of the top pitchers in all of Division III in victories, posting a 7-1 record. His 2.87 ERA was fifth in the NWC this season. Laurence won the Pioneer Male Rookie of the Year award and was the first freshman to ever win the Lewis & Clark Joe Huston Male Athlete of the Year award at the end-of-year Student-Athlete Recognition dessert.
Third baseman Sami Morgan (sophomore, San Mateo, Calif.) was
named Second Team All-Conference. Morgan batted .358, driving in 20
runs this season for the Pioneers.
Jordan Shibata (senior, Pearl City, Hawaii), Jordon Smiley (senior, Las Vegas, Nevada) and AJ Brown (junior, Vancouver, Wash.) all received honorable mentions. Jordan Shibata started all 40 games for the Pioneers at short, batting .349 and scoring a team-high 45 runs. Shibata also led the Pioneers in home runs this season, hitting 7. This is his third honorable mention. He was named to the Second Team in 2006.
Pitcher Jordon Smiley was fourth in the NWC this season in strikeouts, with 49. He led the Pioneers in innings pitched and had the lowest opponent batting average. This is his second honorable mention. He was named second team in 2006.
AJ Brown received his honorable mention as a utility player.
Brown led the team in RBI, driving in 28 runs, while catching,
playing the outfield, and serving as the DH.
