Zehntbauer Swim Pavilion
The Zehntbauer Swimming Pavilion opened in 1969. It sits on the
site of the old gym, which was destroyed by a fire on Sept. 12,
1966. Zehntbauer is named for two friends of the College, C.R. and
John Zehntbauer, founders of the company that became Jantzen. One
of the early advertising slogans of the company was that they
manufactured “the Suit that Changed Bathing to
Swimming.”
The Zehntbauer Swimming Pavilion houses an
eight-lane, 25-yard pool with one and three-meter diving boards.
The pavilion, with its new fully automatic Daktronics timing
system, has been the site of an NAIA National Swimming Championship
meet. Zehntbauer also features a new state-of-the-art Daktronics
scoreboard that made its debut in the 2004-05 swim season. There is
room for 300 specatators at swimming events in the Pavillion.
